BFSS Archives Annual Report 2023

Celebrating 10 years since we gifted the Archive to Brunel University, the team look back on their achievements including in teaching, cataloguing, sharing, and welcoming back volunteers.

We are pleased to present the tenth British and Foreign School Society (BFSS) Archives Annual Impact Report 2023.

In celebration of the ten years since the BFSS gifted their Archives to the University and we delivered the first Annual Report, we thought we would take the opportunity to reflect on how much we have achieved over the last ten years, along with our usual annual update.

Among the many achievements to tell you about
this year are:

  • New Archives and Special Collections Manager – Tace Fox
  • Volunteer programme re-started
  • Teaching sessions with Brunel students
  • 6,500 + BFSS entries in the CALM archivecatalogue
  • New Instagram account – brunel_archives_sc

Over the past year, we have received 71 enquiries relating to the BFSS archives on a range of subjects, and welcomed 6 researchers to our Reading Room.

On a staffing note, we said goodbye to Phaedra Casey, who had worked with the BFSS Archives for 14 years, and welcomed Tace Fox as the new Archives and Special Collections Manager. We also welcomed Poppy, our Archive Assistant Sarah Trim-West’s assistance hearing dog.
