BBC Radio 4 features the BFSS

On Radio 4 on Tuesday 13th September the “Making History” series included a fascinating piece on the BFSS with particular reference to some remarkable women educationalists – “intrepid travellers” – who travelled to Africa and other parts of the world in the early decades of the nineteenth century to start schools.    The programme included interviews with the BFSS archivist Phaedra Casey and with Dr Christina de Bellaigue, Fellow and Tutor at Exeter College Oxford.    To listen to the programme please click here
