Subsidiary Trusts
BFSS administers a number of restricted funds which accept funding applications.
Berridge Trust
Supports the training of teachers of cookery or nutrition. It has a relatively low income of less than £1,000 per year and awards are made to organisations only rather than individuals. Please email grants@bfss.org.uk for further information if you wish to apply.
British School Charity
Provides grants to support the education of young people under the age of 25 in Saffron Walden and the neighbouring area. Annual income is around £7,000. Most grants go to schools and educational institutions but some grants are made to individuals living in the area. The BFSS Trust
Awards are not being made from the BFSS Trust as we are currently reviewing the requirements of the fund.
South Church Educational Fund
Provides grants to support the education of young people under the age of 25 in the former District of Wear Valley. We define education broadly to include pre-school, school, academic studies, vocational training and employment skills. We usually offer grants of up to £1,000 to not-for-profit organisations to run educational projects. Old British School, Bratton
Supports the education of persons under the age of 25 who are in need of financial assistance and who live within a radius of 20 miles from Bratton, Wiltshire. Funding is allocated to individuals who have a disability or additional learning need through the Wiltshire Community Foundation. For further information contact info@wiltshirecf.org.uk
Alfred Bourne Trust
Helps those undertaking education up to the age of 30. The fund has a relatively low income of less than £1,000 pa. This fund is distributed to individuals by the Wiltshire Community Foundation along with the funds from the Old British School as described above.
Great and Little Leighs Educational Charity
Distributes educational grants to young people and organisations within Great and Little Leighs, Essex. The charity’s annual income of £11,000 is provided by a fund created when the building of the British School Great Leighs was sold. Although it is a separate charity to BFSS with it own administration processes, the Trustees work closely with BFSS.
